Iconoclast421, simplistically, I agree with you and MJ Fields, that ‘too many women choose the wrong men for the wrong reasons to make babies with’, in my opinion, primarily FOR THEIR OWN SAKES, AND THE SAKES OF THEIR CHILDREN.
I also agree that annavan1, has a point that women don’t get pregnant by themselves. However, in the absence of rape, they are not fertilized without their implicit consent; thereby implying their full agreement to fertilization, if they don’t demand the male wear a condom, or they themselves don’t take contraceptive precautions, to avoid the consequences of any irresponsible promiscuous romping.
Naturally, if a man doesn’t wear a condom, and makes no effort to establish the possible fertilization or contraceptive status of the lady of his choosing, he too may be in for an unpleasant fertilized egg consequence.
But I don’t think your remarks are blatantly sexist, nor offensive, nor ignorant, nor wrong.
I think you raise some very valid opinions. While many posters here agree with Matt’s article, of which this sentence is a reasonable good description of the delusion and state of avoidance of reality for many:
“Now, we live in an age where our media deceptions are so far-reaching and comprehensive that they almost smother reality, at times seeming actually to replace reality -- but even in the context of the inane TV-driven fantasyland we've grown used to inhabiting, this year's crude cobbling together of a phony "national conversation" by our political press is an outrageous, monstrously offensive deception.”
In the same way, it is my opinion, that your brutal opinions, on male and female courtship, strategic choices and priorities and values for choosing mating partners, marriage, procreation, and particularly the strength’s for such relationships, with concepts such as loyalty, responsibility, commitment, sex, honesty, etc; resulting in strong marriages, and if or where children, stronger nuclear family ties, are a ‘reality’ many perhaps would prefer not to discuss; preferring to pretend that they in fact currently exist ‘in their particular family’.

It was an annoying habit of Wild Bill Donovan [OSS] to dissect his men’s thinking, expose their faults, then go right back and ask them for another opinion. “I don’t know,” answered Silver Star Honey. “Seems he doesn’t trust us.” “Us? Who’s us? ‘Us’ doesn’t exist. ‘You,’ I think, would be more accurate.” Donovan stared at the afternoon sky, wagging a finger at an invisible adversary. ...

Good Frame: The Poker Player vs the Craps Shooter
Posted by: Tim Brown on Jul 19, 2008 6:28 AM
Current rating: 5 [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
The poker/craps analogy is an interesting frame:
The poker player plays his cards "close to the vest", revealing them only when required, to keep his opponents guessing; the poker player thinks things through, calculates the odds, plans ahead for possible outcomes, is well prepared.
The craps shooter believes he is lucky enough, in the face of great odds, to be able to pick the one winning number among many; he is a maverick in his approach to playing the percentages because he doesn't believe they matter - faith in his own luck is enough to win the day.
This frame probably has no relevance to actual policy decisions, but it IS one that works in favor of progressive ideas: "enlightenment" vs a "faith-based" approach to governing.

Please would you be so kind as to pray to God, to add lots of extra oil, arable land, water and all the other natural resources which have all peaked and are getting less and less by the day; because it appears we cannot convince his followers to understand the impending political, economic and psychological consequences of populations fighting over scarce resources; and they just keep on breeding future debt and cannon fodder slaves, like cattle; so it appears soon we shall simply have to herd them, like the cattle they choose to be, into already constructed FEMA camps, and proceed to get them ready for the slaughterhouse ovens....
Thank You,
Lara Braveheart (Pin2Gong HUMINT Military Truth from 'SilverStar Honey' Unofficial Secretary for Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral George Peaches, NorthCom.)
References for God, if he needs them, because his followers appear to think scientific facts about resource available realities are irrelevant; in terms of the future consequences for their future debt and cannon fodder slaves.
Among others: [1] According to a long-term study just released by the U.S. Naval Services Department, a series of tipping points could dramatically alter the global prospects for economic growth and humanity — for the worse.
Right now, for instance, fully half the world is vulnerable to social instability resulting from rising food and energy prices, lack of water, failing state governments, and pollution.
102 countries are at risk of chaos. 46 countries, comprising 2.7 BILLION people, are at risk of armed conflict with lack of adequate natural resources as the root cause for many of them. Another 56 countries, with 1.2 billion people, are at risk of severe social instability.
There are now 14 ongoing wars around the world: Five in Africa, four in Asia, two in the Americas, two in the Middle East, plus the world-wide war on terrorism. [February 1986 Report of the Vice President's Task Force on Combating Terrorism, chaired by Vice President George Bush, Sr., concludes that the root cause of terrorism is overpopulation, a result of conflict over scarce resources].

Single mother in Vermont
Posted by: Iconoclast421 on Jul 22, 2008 7:06 AM
Touching letter. I need a tissue.
And where is the father during all this? And whose fault is it that he's not around? (His fault, I'm sure.)
It doesnt even matter whose fault it is. The point is that this single solitary relationship dynamic has claimed a great deal of damage to the economy. Single family homes are not too terribly efficient in their own right, but single parent homes are even more inefficient.
This single mother in Vermont's story has been told millions of times in America. She went out and got impregnated by some guy because she thought he was cool or whatever, and for every other stupid reason women choose mates these days. She's lucky she gets to survive making a mistake of such magnitude. Because most people who make that kind of mistake... they dont survive it. And neither does their offspring. Millions of women around the world die every year... simply from getting pregnant and not being able to support their child, and being destroyed in the process of trying. It's an honorable way to go I suppose. It's better than throwing the baby in the dumpster and going out and making another... but women need to understand that this aint no game. Choosing a mate is not the same thing as shopping for a pair of shoes. And it is certainly no accident that so many women seriously spend more time thinking about their next pair of shoes than they do trying to outline a strategy for finding a mate.
Stratergy? What's that? I'm not supposed to do that. I'm just supposed to be a good little consumer and do what the tv tells me to do.

Truthdig: Russia: They're Baaaaaack!!
By jackpine savage, August 13 at 6:13 pm #
Pictured as a chess match…
The US moved its rook (Georgia) into a threatening position, but unaware that the positioning had already been defended against by Russia. The US could easily have lost its rook; however, Russia decided not to trade the knight that it would take. Still, the move isolated and nullified the rook.
Putin played it smart. He didn’t/hasn’t pushed far enough to force Europe into turning against him. (And European news told the truth of this splendid little war from the beginning.) He also didn’t upset Beijing. We can, however, bet that Beijing is none to happy with Bush and his global minions for stealing some wind from their coming out party.
And, yes, the US (not the “West”, just the US) got smacked around badly. It showed us A. to be an unreliable ally and B. unwilling to take on someone our own size. The later may be the most important outcome. The world saw someone stand straight up to the hegemon and not blink.
If Russia did actually capture an American, everything gets much worse.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the greatest threat right now to the US IED’s at probably less than $100 a pop and $1.29 box cutters used in conjunction with our own fuel-ladened 737’s?

Chalmers Johnson is virtually always spot-on in his analysis.
As a libertarian and constitutionalist (with some minor reservations), I believe the Founders feared war above all other government usurpations of power. As Madison said, war is the government activity most to be feared, since war is the mother of all other tyrannies: taxation, impoverishment, loss of personal liberties.
The warfare state seems (unfortunately) to be self-sustaining, no matter what the majority of the populace believes. Most Americans now want to get out of Iraq, for example, but their opinions don’t matter.
Most Americans would probably favor a foreign policy of “open and friendly relations with all nations, entangling alliances with none.” But the MIC positively loves playing off one alliance against the other as a strategy of “divide and conquer.”
